Day 1 Live form Cuba MO pop. 3000

Sitting at the Missouri Hick BBQ having just enjoyed a fabulous BBQ dinner.  Famous Daves just wont be good enough any more.  Flight was smooth, (except for landing), day's been long but Route 66 is all we dreamed it would be.   Highlights of the day included going to "Chain of Rocks Bridge"  we were concerned that we weren't supossed to be there but when 20  bicycle mounted police came by and offered to take our picture, we decided it was OK.  Next stop was the Gate Way Arch.  Got some good pictures but we don't have a computer so maybe tomorrow!  Ted Drewes Custard is a famous spot on route 66 and my raspberry, hot fudge, macadamia nut custad was worth every calorie!  Went to the Route 66 State Park which was closing as was the Merimac CAVES.  Tonight we are staying in the Wagon Wheel Hotel.  For those of you who have children, ( and some who don't) this is the hotel where Sally from the movie Car's was disappointed that it was closed.  Karen learned how to play Rock, Scissors, Paper and now gets a bed to herself! Bye for now, check in again tomorrow!

Departure!

WHAT???  Who's idea was it to get an early start on this "adventure"??  At the time, a flight leaving from MSP at 7:00 a.m. sounded like a great idea.  But if you start figuring the time we need to be to the airport, then what time we need to pick up Deb in Zumbrota, the time we need to leave Rochester and finally what time we have to get up to make all this happen, a later departure time is looking better all the time!  I am thinking maybe it is best not to go to bed tonight!!  We've got our boarding passes and checked in for the car rental.  Does that mean everything will go smoothly??   Thanks to Steph Toomey for the lesson on how to add pictures to the blog and to Kelly (Kim McGarry's daughter) for the great list ideas of things to do in St. Louis!   More to follow.....

Scout Motto "Always be Prepared"

I am praticing sending posts from my 'palm tree'!  Everyone knows that when you are in the middle of an 'adventure' is not the time to figure out how to use your electronics!  I won't tell you how much time I have spent doing this but I think we will be able to send posts even if we stay in dives that don't have computers! Now to figure out if my tripod will fit in my oversized suitcase!  Stay tuned!

Planning Stages

Well, I am not sure how I got chosen to be the creator of this blog, but I am so here goes my first attempt.  Karen, Deb and I had a final planning meeting at Panera tonight and it appears that we are nearly ready to fly to St. Louis.  Deb has 50# of books, maps, etc from AAA and we each have a list of items to bring.  We are flying SW so we get to bring 2 checked bags, I am excited about that!  Well, I am not going to write much more because I don't know how this is going to look.  We leave the last day of September so check daily for updates on our "Adventure".
